LUDHIANA: The leaders and workers of Youth Congress organised a rally on Sunday, urging the party high command to appoint Member of Parliament from Amritsar, Captain Amarinder Singh, president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC).

The rally was organised by Youth Congress leader Jagroop Singh Hassanpur under the patronage and guidance of senior party leader Jagpal Singh Khangura at the Jodhan grain market. Wearing Youth Congress bands and sporting the party flags, the workers resolved to ensure that the SAD-BJP government was defeated in the next elections and Amarinder was elected the chief minister of the state.

Addressing the rally, Khangura congratulated the youth for organising show of strength and passing the resolution in support of Amarinder Singh. He said the SAD-BJP government had fleeced the people. “Amarinder is the only leader in Punjab who can put the state back on the path of progress and prosperity,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, state secretary Kamaljeet Singh Brar said, “The people of Punjab, particularly the youth, were looking forward to Amarinder Singh to take over the reins of the party and become the chief minister of the state.”

It is worth mentioning here that the former Punjab chief minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, and PPCC head Partap Singh Bajwa have been at loggerheads for long.
