Moga : Veteran Congress Capt Amarinder Singh has called upon the people of Punjab to flex their muscles for the forthcoming 2017 Assembly elections and rid the state of “misrule” of the Badals.

He alleged the Badal family had misused power to further their business interests and accumulate wealth.

Addressing a gathering at Dharamkot in Moga, Captain termed the Badal family as “golak thieves” and alleged they had not even spared the SGPC funds.

Amarinder alleged their (Badals) only contribution to Punjab was debt and drugs. “Both have destroyed the otherwise prosperous state. The state has a debt of Rs 1.25 lakh crore. Besides, it is loaded with synthetic drugs produced and supplied under the patronage of the Akali leadership. Every child in Punjab recognises Akalis with drugs, particularly synthetic drugs,” he alleged.

He said the small and marginal farmers in the state were under heavy debt in the absence of any concrete policy to lift them out of poverty. “The world has seen growth in agriculture, but the farmers of Punjab are forced to commit suicide,” he said.
