Ludhiana : Former Union Minister Manish Tewari has sought a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the reports of drug money being invested into real estate projects in the state.

Tewari expressed concern over the rampant drug trade in the state. He alleged its proceeds were reportedly being invested in real estate which needed to be probed.

He said this while talking to the media after inaugurating a medical camp here.

He alleged the BJP made a mess of one rank, one pension scheme. He said: “During the UPA regime, the pension amount was revised thrice. The then Finance Minister PC Chidambram made a provision of Rs500 crore for removing the anomalies. But the Modi government did not implement it and made a mess of it.”

On the possible change of guard in the PPCC, Tewari said: “The party leadership is holding consultations with all stakeholders and will announce an appropriate candidate.”

Backs Capt for top post
On Capt Amarinder Singh as party’s chief ministerial candidate, he said: “There is no doubt that Captain is the most popular leader of Punjab. Therefore, no body, except him, has the legitimacy to be the party’s CM candidate.”
