Abohar : Leader of the Opposition Sunil Jakhar today alleged the probe panel constituted by the state government to check malpractices in the purchase of insecticide/pesticide was an eyewash.
After visiting cotton fields damaged in the whitefly attack in Diwankhera village here, he said the inquiry committees constituted by the SAD-BJP governments in the past failed to indict any of the erring officials. “Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is well aware about who supplied the farmers with substandard pesticides again,” he said.
Jakhar said though a girdawari had been ordered to assess the losses incurred by the cotton growers, the officials concerned were working in a biased manner. He said the Congress would highlight the cotton growers’ plight in the coming vidhan sabha session.
