Abohar : Hundreds of residents of Haripura and Panjkosi villages in Abohar subdivision have resolved to stop taking supply from the rural water works run by the Public Health Department. They resented that the state government had ignored complaints against the supply of contaminated water for drinking.
Leader of Opposition Sunil Jakhar today visited the village and interacted with residents. He was told that waterlogging had damaged the floor bed and side walls of the water reservoir which had not been repaired for the past few years.
Jakhar said the SAD-BJP alliance had stated in its common minimum programme during the Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha elections that more villages would be provided water works and rural water works reservoirs would be renovated. “The state government had availed funds through NABARD for water supply schemes but it visibly appears that the funds were siphoned off,” he said.
