PATIALA: Countering speculations triggered by his informal Sunday meeting with Swaraj Abhiyan movement leader Yogendra Yadav, local MP and suspended Aam Aadmi Party leader Dr Dharamvira Gandhi said here on Monday that floating a new political outfit was not on his mind.

Dr Gandhi told HT that “Yadav had come to my house for a personal visit”. “He appreciated my and fight for the volunteers and restoring the original ideology of the party. This doesn’t mean that I am joining him,” said the MP, adding: “I will stay with the AAP and fight from within to bring transparency in decision-making, restore the original ideology from which the party has deviated, and stand up for volunteers who worked tirelessly to build the party in Punjab.” Later in the day, Dr Gandhi put his message on the social media.

“The people of Punjab, victims of the tyrannical AkaliBJP rule and the perennially corrupt Congress, will see Dr Gandhi take on both, even at the risk of his life. The honest and dedicated volunteers of AAP will stop plunderers from coming back to power,” he said, adding that he’d ensure that the struggle for political alternative didn’t die out.

‘WON’T LET AAP BECOME ANOTHER SAD’
“I’ll not let the AAP become another Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress or PPP (People’s Party of Punjab), and I will defend Punjab’s right to independence in decision-making,” he stated.

He said volunteers would fight till the end for AAP’s suspended leader Harinder Singh Khalsa and expelled leader Dr Daljit Singh.

“We want change, not just the change of guards,” he further said.
