Bajwa demands crop insurance cover for farmers

Chandigarh : Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday assured the state farmers that the Congress would continue to espouse their cause forcefully. Demanded a package to the debt ridden farmers of Punjab as it was given by UPA government. Bajwa also demanded a crop insurance cover for the farmers who should be covered for the loss of their produce under any natural calamity or manual foul play. He said Chief minister Punjab Parkash Singh Badal lacked guts to forcefully take up farmers issues with his own government.

He said that on Sunday thousands of farmers from Punjab participated in the Kisan Samman Rally held in Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi and thanked all the senior leadership of Punjab Congress and the farmers from Punjab who made this rally a huge success.. Bajwa said this rally marked the solidarity of the farmers with the Congress as the party, under the leadership of the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and the vice -president Rahul Gandhi had successfully scuttled the atrocious attempt by the NDA government led by Narendra Modi to drop pro-farmer provisions in the land acquisition legislation.
