Gandhi writes to PM

Patiala : Anguished over the loss of cotton crop due to whitefly attack in Malwa, Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and all 750 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members to impress upon the central and state governments to come forward with adequate compensation to farmers and farm labourers.
He has asked them to chalk out a comprehensive plan to put Punjab’s farming sector back on track.
In the letter, Dr Gandhi, who recently travelled across the state’s cotton belt that was hit by the whitefly attack, blamed the state government and its wrong policies for the loss, especially during the last 10 years.
