Abohar : Leader of Opposition Sunil Jakhar demanded an apology from Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for blaming the Congress for the cotton crop damage. He said the special girdawari vindicated the stand of the Congress.
He alleged the state government had yet to pay Rs 717 crore compensation to farmers whose wheat crop was damaged due to incessant rain in February-March. Jakhar threatened to launch a stir across Malwa if the state government didn’t disburse Rs 600 crore and Rs 717 crore at the earliest.
Jakhar alleged the cotton crisis was manmade as opposed to a natural crisis as stated by the Chief Minister.
