JALANDHAR: Suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi on Sunday alleged that party leaders were distributing liquor and cash to lure crowd to attend their ongoing rallies across Punjab.

“I have evidence that liquor and `200 each are being given to people who are attending the rally. It is really painful,” claimed Gandhi, who was here along with party’s another suspended MP from Fatehgarh Sahib, Harinder Singh Khalsa.

“I don’t care even if the party expels me as it has ceased to be the party which I had joined for its ideals and principles,” he added.

“People are being promised assembly tickets in lieu of bringing more and more crowd to the rallies”, alleged Gandhi, adding that grassroots volunteers were being shown the door.

“Those who wield clout and bags full of money will get plum posts in the party,” said Gandhi. “People were fed up with Akalis but chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukbir Singh Badal will leave no stone unturned to lure voters,” he said.

Taking a dig at Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and party’s central leadership, he said: “They think that Punjabis don’t know how to manage things. They have ignored us. It is an insult… we won’t tolerate such dictatorial and undemocratic attitude of party’s senior leadership towards Punjab volunteers”.

“The party is going down the drains and if it fails to take corrective measures, it will be wiped out in Punjab,” he said. Khalsa blasted the Delhi leadership and dubbed state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur as a “nalayak leader” who would prove to be a disaster for AAP. Khalsa said, “I was drawn to AAP when I saw Kejriwal on TV and joined the party. But now I realise my foolishness.”

He claimed that Sanjay Singh, AAP’s in-charge of Punjab affairs, would result in party’s downfall in the coming months.
