Bathinda : Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh on Saturday visited the families of those killed in police firing while protesting against the sacrilege of holy Guru Granth Sahib at Behbal Kalan village of Faridkot district.
Further, accompanied by the Congress Legislative Party leader Sunil Jakhar and other senior party leaders and legislators, he also attended and addressed the protest
dharnas at several places saying he had come to share the grief over the sacrilege of the holy Guru Granth Sahib and the killing of innocent people in the unprovoked police firing.
He appealed to the people of Punjab to maintain peace and harmony and said that he will do everything possible to ensure that the state remains peaceful and progressive.
Lashing out at the Chief Minister, the Congress leader accused him responsible for whatever was happening in Punjab today.
Addressing the people who had staged a dharna at Bajakhana, Bhargadi and Bowal, Amarinder said, he had come there as a humble Sikh who was hurt over the
sacrilege and the loss of innocent lives in the unprovoked firing on the protesters.
The former Chief Minister condemned the unprovoked and indiscriminate police firing on the innocent protestors which led to loss of life. He demanded that the guilty cops should not only be dismissed from the service but also booked for murder.
Without naming anybody during his speeches, Capt Amarinder shared the concern of the protestors over the misuse of the Akal Takht. He said, the time had come when the sacred institution set up by the Sixth Master needed to be set free from those who were insulting it.
