Anandpur Sahib/Jalandhar : Pradesh Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa today asked Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to return the title of Panth Ratan Fakhr-e-Qaum bestowed upon him by Akal Takht. He alleged Badal had no right to hold such a title as he failed to protect the interests of the state.
Bajwa paid obeisance at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib today to pray for peace in the state. Talking to the media, he blamed Badal for the prevailing crisis in the state.
Bajwa alleged the Chief Minister was interfering in the religious affairs. He demanded an inquiry by a sitting judge into the incidents of sacrilege and firing on Sikh protesters.
In Jalandhar, Bajwa alleged the government was trying to cover up the sacrilege incidents and killing of two youths in Faridkot. He said this was evident as the government had not named anyone in FIR against the police.
Bajwa was here to offer prayers for communal harmony in the state.
Khaira tells Sikhs to wear black turban on Diwali Faridkot: Sukhpal Singh Khaira, former Congress MLA, has asked Sikhs to wear black turbans, black dupatta, black bands on their arms and put up black flags atop their houses and shops this Diwali to express their anguish against the state government. After visiting the families of deceased protesters Gurjeet Singh and Bhagwan Krishan Singh in Faridkot villages, Khaira alleged that after pushing Punjab into a state of complete anarchy, the Badals had now embarked upon the dangerous path to destroy vital institutions of Sikhs. He alleged, “It is an open secret that the Badal family has been controlling Akal Takht and the SGPC for their petty political gains.”
