BSP DEMANDS PRESIDENT'S RULE IN PUNJAB

JALANDHAR: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Saturday demanded impositon of President's rule in Punjab and Haryana, saying the law and order situation in the two states had deteriorated.
In a memorandum addressed to the President, BSP's state chief Avtar Singh Karimpuri said incidents of desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib had put Punjab on the boil. He also referred to the burning to death of two Dalit children in Haryana, and said the government had failed to protect the members of the Scheduled Caste.
