Chandigarh : A performance review meeting of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gave a clean chit to MP Bhagwant Mann on allegations of attending the bhog ceremony of Faridkot firing incident victims in an inebriated state.

Sanjay Singh, in charge, party affairs of Punjab and two other states, chaired the meeting where zonal heads and observers in the state participated.

Durgesh Pathak, organisation structure head, and Sucha Singh Chhotepur, state convener, were also present along with MP Bhagwant Mann.

Sources said the quarterly meeting reviewed the performance of the party representatives and volunteers and discussed threadbare the allegation against MP Bhagwant Mann, who is the main crowd puller in the rallies.

The participants agreed that Mann did not behave like a drunkard in the video. Durgesh Pathak said the video had Mann walking away in a usual manner while someone shouted that he was drunk. Pathak said the allegation was part of cheap politics and “Mann’s behaviour was normal.”

He said not just the video but also many persons present there or who had met Mann later insisted he was sober. “We have concluded that there was no truth in the allegation,” he said.

News reports had claimed Mann was disallowed from sitting on the stage as he was found drunk. Later, a video showing Mann walking off the ceremony also went viral.

The meeting also took stock of the present political situation, the performance of the party volunteers and the progress made in the organisational structure.

Col LJS Gill (retd) gave a presentation on the structure and a detailed analysis of the problems confronting the state and their solutions.
