GURDASPUR: The ‘bhog’ of the ‘akhand paath’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was performed at Gurdwara Angeetha Sahib Baba Lal Singh Kullian Wale at Chhotepur village near here on Thursday to express repentance over the incidents of sacrilege of the holy book at Bargarhi village and other places in the state and the incident of the killings of two Sikh protesters in police firing at Behbal Kalan village in Faridkot district.

AAP’s Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur addressing a congregation at Gurdwara Angeetha Sahib Baba Lal Singh Kullian Wale at Chhotepur village near Gurdaspur on Thursday.

After the bhog of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Pathi Bhai Raghubir Singh said the prayers for repentance over the incidents of sacrilege and seeking welfare of mankind.

Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, while addressing the congregation, asserted that the people of Punjab would never forgive those who indulged in the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and who killed two Sikh followers taking part in the protest against the incident.

Chhotepur praised and condemned the Akalis in the same breath. He said, “In the past Akalis used to launch ‘morchas’ (agitations) in favour of the genuine demands of the Punjabi people, but the present Akali government had failed to expose the real culprits behind the unfortunate incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.”

He added, “The Akali party always misled the Sikhs in the name of saving the ‘Panth’ (Sikh community), but it had failed when put to test of exposing the elements responsible for the inhuman incidents of the sacrilege of the holy book, which was addressed as Guru.”

Chhotepur claimed that all the sections of Punjabi society were dissatisfied with the poor performance of the Parkash Singh Badal-led SAD-BJP government and they had already made their mind to give a chance to AAP in the 2017 Punjab assembly elections. Meanwhile, Chhotepur appealed to the people of Punjab to maintain peace and communal harmony.
