KAPURTHALA: Intensifying their protest after the district police failed to release the arrested Sikh protesters and dismiss a case against them for creating ruckus at the State Gurdwara here on October 23, the Congress, on Friday, announced to gherao the office of senior superintendent of police here and called for Doaba bandh on Monday.
Cong ress spokesperson Sukhpal Singh Khaira and former minister Joginder Singh Mann, who led the protest on Friday, said that if the police failed to release the protesters within two days, they would intensify their protest to pressure the police to dismiss the case against innocent Sikh protesters.
However, MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, who had initiated the protest in Sultanpur Lodhi on October 24, remained missing from the protest.
Hundreds of protesters sat on a road outside the old courts and raised slogans against the police and the state government.
