Amritsar: Partap Singh Bajwa, PPCC president, on Friday said there was a complete breakdown of administrative machinery in the state, which had witnessed unrest over the incidents of sacrilege. Accompanied by his wife and MLA Charanjit Kaur Bajwa, Ludhiana MLA Rakesh Pandey, PPCC vice-president Sardul Singh, and other leaders, he paid obeisance at the Golden Temple to “pray for the peace and amity” in Punjab on the conclusion of Akhand Path organised by him. He alleged that the two brothers had been “frivolously implicated in sacrilege case by the government to save its skin”. He said the main lapse was that police personnel were being appointed as per the political will. “SHOs are deputed as per the wish of MLAs and circle heads, the positions of DSPs and SSPs do not get due recognition. The system cannot be rectified until and unless the political interference in police department is discouraged.”

Manpreet calls for fresh elections
Amritsar: Peoples’ Party of Punjab leader Manpreet Singh Badal today sought President’s Rule in the state, saying people had lost faith in the state government. He said that fresh elections should be held at the earliest. The PPP leader along with his party workers visited the Golden Temple to “pray for peace” in view of the crisis in the state following incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. He said, “The words Badal and corruption have become synonymous. The CM and his family members have not visited Bathinda, which they consider their stronghold, in the past three weeks. In times like this, the government should better quit.”
