Ludhiana : Independent MLA brothers from Ludhiana Simarjeet Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains announced to form a new political party and contest all the seats in Vidhan Sabha elections of 2017. Bains also hinted at a alliance with likeminded political parties while contesting the elections.
While claiming that many senior political leaders were in contact with him, Bains said that he was approached by senior politicians of Punjab to form a front to contest elections. He also claimed that the leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress were also ready to join him as they were feeling suffocated in their respective parties.
While addressing the press conference at circuit house here on Wednesday, Bains brothers hit out at the state government over the recent incidents of sacrileges of Guru Granth Sahib in the state. He said that the state government move to hand over the probe of sacrileges to CBI is only to linger on the case as the probe was not time-bound and moreover the case of killing of two Sikhs in police firing was not handed over to the CBI.
Commenting on the visit of Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi to meet the families of victims of police firing, Bains said that the leaders were only visiting to gain their political benefits. MLA Balwinder Bains said that Rahul Gandhi should first visit the families of 1984 victims at Delhi before visiting Punjab.
Police, government blamed for murder of democracy
Released after 12 days from jail, MLA Siamrjeet Singh Bains said that he was on way to hold peaceful protest outside the residence of Punjab Chief Minister over the incidents of sacrileges but the police on the directions of government arrested him and his supporters for no reason. He said that he was booked by Chandigarh Police under Section 107/751 of CrPC but released on the same evening on bail but the Ludhiana Police didn’t accept his bail bonds.
Accusing the police and the state government of murdering democracy, Bains said that he was released on bail following the court orders but the police again arrested him at the entrance of central jail.
The police in their report claimed that MLA was provoking his supporters against the government but the police didn’t allow him to step outside the jail premises, added Bains.
He further said that a day after he was booked in the case, he himself called the Police Commissioner to surrender but after sometime heavy police force came to arrest him from his residence.
Taking a dig at the state government, Bains said that when the Congress MLA staged protest outside the CM residence, Badal himself came to welcome them and offer tea and when it comes to members of Team Insaaf, the police use force.
