Chandigarh : Congress spokesperson Sukhpal Khaira today urged the Chief Justice and the Governor to intervene and secure the release of detained Akali leaders.
Khaira said the Badal government was acting “dictatorial” by sending several leaders behind bars whereas the need of the hour was to handle the situation calmly.
“Sarbat-Khalsa was a peaceful meet. Hence, arresting Akali leaders is unconstitutional, illegal and direct infringement upon the human rights of the leaders,” he said.
“I warn the BJP (Centre) not to become a party to the deceitful and ‘nadar-shahi’ dictates of Badals,” he said.
