Chandigarh : A group of Congress leaders on Wednesday questioned BJP leader Tarun Chugh’s recent statements seeking resignation of Capt Amarinder Singh on issue of black money queries from Swiss banks.
In a joint statement party leaders including O P Soni, Dr Raj Kumar Verka, Sukhjinder Sarkaria, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Harjinder Thekedar and Gurjeet Aujla asked the BJP leader to remain within his limits . “you neither had the credentials nor right antecedents to question a senior leader like Capt Amarinder”, the congress leaders told Chugh. They said Chugh never enjoyed the confidence of people in any electoral battle and was not even supported by local BJP workers. “His only existence is by virtue of parroting out statements dictated to him by the political masters to please them”, they said.
The Congress leaders asked Chugh that he should better bother about his own party matters rather than commenting on someone else. “We understand his plight as he has yet to come out of shock inflicted on him and his party by Capt Amarinder and hence it is natural for him to spit venom”, they observed. They said, while Capt Amarinder had already called the bluff of the BJP government’s machinations to defame him by clarifying that he or his family had no account abroad, Chugh should better be ready about his own future that awaits him. “People of Amritsar, whom you have deceived, defrauded and cheated during these years are ready to expose you and hold you accountable”, they warned Chugh adding, he should better start worrying about himself. The Punjab Pharmacist’s Association has given ultimatum to the Punjab Government to accepted their genuine demands including the already agreed one by December, 12, failing which the members of the Association will sit on dharna in front of the residence of Director Health Services on December 13 at Jalandhar followed by gehrao of DHS office, on the retirement day of Director Health and Family Welfare and marching towards the residence of Health Minister.
After reviewing the on-going agitation of the Punjab State Pharmacists’ Association (PSPA) of work-to-rule and wearing black badges on the shoulders while on duty, in a meeting held under the tutelage of Sathi Sham Lal Sharma, State President, the Association decided to intensify its agitation.
