CHANDIGARH: The Congress will hold a rally in Bathinda coinciding it with former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh assuming the charge of Punjab Congress chief.

The date of the rally would be announced soon, a party spokesperson said here on Saturday. The decision to hold the rally in what would be the Congress’ show of strength was taken by senior party leaders who met Amarinder in New Delhi on Saturday, a day after the Amritsar MP was appointed the state party chief. “Since a large number of people are expected to attend the function and the PCC complex in Chandigarh cannot accommodate the rush, it was decided that the function would be held as a public rally in Bathinda,” the spokesperson said. Before that Amarinder will visit Amritsar on December 2 and pay obeisance at the Golden Temple, Durgiana Mandir and Swami Ramtirath.
