Capt hails CLP leader, others’ appointment

Chandigarh: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday welcomed the appointment of Charanjit Singh Channi as the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader. He thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi for reposing confidence in the young and promising leaders of the party in Punjab.

The PCC president also hailed the appointment of Bharat Bhushan Ashu as the Deputy CLP leader and Navtej Cheema as the Chief Whip of the party in the state legislature. Capt Amarinder congratulated all the three young leaders hoping that they will come up to the expectations of the party leadership and the workers and perform the role assigned to them in the best possible manner in the state legislature. In a statement, he said that the party leadership and workers will be looking up to them to take on the government in the most effective manner in the Vidhan Sabha.

The PCC president assured full support and cooperation from the party to the three young leaders all of whom have been assigned very important role by the high command. Capt Amarinder also lauded the impressive and outstanding performance of the outgoing CLP leader Sunil Jakhar both inside and outside the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. He said that Jakhar had set the highest standards of debate and discussion, besides always putting the government at the backfoot both inside and outside the house.
