CHANDIGARH: Commenting on the unending assault on road users by private bus operators in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAAP) state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said on Friday here that operators should lose their permit if their buses were involved in more than two fatal accidents, and pay minimum of `25 lakh as compensation to the victims’ families. Chhotepur called for a transparent transport policy implemented under the directions of the Punjab and Haryana high court “because the ruling Badals will never frame a policy that conflicts with their interest”. “This policy should keep in view the road width, traffic density, peak-hour congestion and accident-prone stretches, and based on the analysis, reset speed limits,” he said.
