Dissident PPP leader joins Cong

CHANDIGARH: Former People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) leader Gurpreet Singh GP on Wednesday joined the Congress in the presence of state party chief Capt Amarinder Singh.

GP had polled over 14,000 votes as a PPP candidate and lost from Chamkaur Sahib in the 2012 assembly elections, and later left the party after having differences with PPP chief Manpreet Badal. He joined the Congress at the residence of Capt Singh in the presence of senior party leaders Charanjit Singh Channi, Sunil Jakhar, Kewal Singh Dhillon, Balbir Sidhu, Sukh Sarkaria, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Navtej Cheema and Gurkirat Singh Kotli, a party spokesman said.
