AMRITSAR: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) believes the Punjab assembly elections in 2017 will be a revolution in which the common man will not only show the ruling Shiromani Akali DalBJP alliance the door but will also hand a crushing defeat to the Congress.

AAP Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur (left) and party Punjab affairs incharge Sanjay Singh welcoming former Congress leader Kuldeep Dhaliwal (centre) into the party fold in Amritsar on Thursday.

“It (the election) will be a fight between the common man and the two ‘rajas’ (kings). Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh are two sides of the same coin. They are responsible for all ills plaguing the state, including corruption and drug abuse,” AAP Punjab affairs in-charge Sanjay Singh told reporters here on Thursday.

The AAP leader said Punjab had seen a downslide during Badal’s rule. He held the chief minister responsible for the cotton crop failure that had led to farmer suicides in Malwa. “These are not suicides but murders. No action was taken against state agriculture minister Tota Singh for allowing the supply of spurious pesticides to cotton farmers to fight the whitefly attack,” he said.

‘SIDHU NOT IN TOUCH’
Asked whether former Amritsar BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu was joining the AAP, he clarified that Sidhu had not contacted the AAP leadership.

On People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) leader Manpreet Singh Badal’s talks with Sangrur AAP MP Bhagwant Mann, Sanjay Singh claimed he was not aware of the meeting.

Punjab AAP convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said that the growing popularity of his party had made both the Congress and the Akalis nervous. “Having failed on all fronts, Badal has
