GURDASPUR: The residents of Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency are irked over the long absence of their BJP MP Vinod Khanna, especially when they underwent a horrible phase of Pakistani terrorists’ attack at Pathankot air base and were suffering from the nightmare of the reported presence of more Pakistani terrorists in the villages located in the vicinity of the Tibri military station, situated on Gurdaspur-Mukerian road, 5km from Gurdaspur.

Cine star-turned-politician Vinod Khanna was also absent from his constituency during the terror attack at Dinanagar police station on July 27 last year.

The people of Gurdaspur feel cheated by Khanna. Jokes have begun to make rounds that residents of the constituency should lodge a complaint with the police that their MP was missing ever since his election in 2014.

Many locals feel that their elected leader should have been with them in their hour of sorrow at the time of the terror attack and army operations near Tibri military station.

Khanna was not available for comment even on phone. But his political secretary Samarinder Sharma told HT on Monday that Khanna was undergoing health problems so he could not come to Gurdaspur. He said Khanna was in Mumbai and would rush back as soon as he felt better.

Samarinder said Khanna had extended his condolences to the families of the martyrs of Pathankot terror attack.
