LUDHIANA: Senior Congress leader and former chief minister of the state Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Tuesday stated that Congress would form the government in 2017 in Punjab as the people of the state are well aware of the policies of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) as well as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

She said that the AAP has shown its real face in Delhi and people there were now fed up of its policies. “On the other hand, the 10-year rule of SAD is deemed as the black period of the state and people would reject them in the upcoming elections,”said Bhattal.

Bhattal had come to Ludhiana to attend the death anniversary of Congress leader Joginderpal Pandey. She stated on the sidelight of her visit that AAP and SAD were not trying to divert the attention of the people of Punjab from development and other issues that concerns common man.

She said that Congress has always worked to maintain peace and harmony in the border state of Punjab. Launching an attack on SAD, Bhattal said that SAD-BJP alliance in Punjab had failed to save the social fabric of the state. She demanded that a high-level inquiry should be held in sacrilege incidents held last year and attack on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shakha held on Monday.

The senior Congress leader also stated that Captain Amrinder Singh was working to strengthen the party in the state.
