AMRITSAR: Strongly advocating the break-up of the SADBJP alliance before the 2017 Assembly elections, chief parliamentary secretary and BJP MLA Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Saturday said if the alliance continued till the Assembly polls, then people must vote for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The CPS, who has been critical of the SAD and had announced that she would not contest the 2017 polls if the alliance continued, once again fired a salvo saying the SADBJP alliance would not get votes in the assembly polls.

Claiming that the BJP was not able to do anything on its own in the alliance, Dr Sidhu said, “Today, Punjab needs a big change. The kind of crisis the state is facing, it is high time someone with vision and honesty came forward. The BJP’s best option would be that they come out of this alliance and contest all 117 seats. The BJP must propagate the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi rather than following the Akali Dal.”

Dr Sidhu said, “The reason is that the BJP has always been ignored in this alliance and its own existence has suffered to a great extent. So there is an urgent need to break the alliance and contest on all seats.”

She said, “People will no more vote for the SAD-BJP alliance in the 2017 polls. The best option is the BJP going alone, but if the alliance continues, people must vote for the AAP,” the CPS said.

Dr Sidhu said, “The Congress is nowhere in the picture. So why not opt for the party that is coming up with a new vision and more youth?”

For the past sometime, there have been speculations that the Sidhu couple might join the AAP, but they have denied it.

She said that under the SADBJP alliance, the national policies were not fully flourishing in Punjab. The BJP needed to contest the polls on its own and spread the message of Modi; Punjab needed a change badly, she added.

She alleged that the SAD was not following the alliance dharma and the BJP was unable to flourish under the alliance.
