TARN TARAN: Protesting against the ‘candidature’ of Ramanjit Singh Sikki for the Khadoor Sahib bypoll, Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Bittu is all set to rebel against the decision of the high command and contest the bypoll as an Independent.

On Sunday, Sukhdev Singh, president of Khadoor Sahib block, and Bhupinder Kumar Nayyar, president of Chohla Sahib block, conducted a meeting of Congress workers at Fatehabad village. Both these leaders are close aides of Bittu, who has been alleging that Sikki was an outsider.

Meanwhile, both the leaders said the meeting had been conducted to convey the inner voice of the party workers, who were not in favour of Sikki’s candidature, to the party high command. They claimed that thousands of workers from every village of the segment attended the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, supporters of the former chairman of Khadoor Sahib market committee said the party leadership had forcibly imposed an ‘outsider’ as their candidate and they wanted Bittu to be fielded in the bypoll. “The party high command should rethink its decision, or else Bittu will file his nomination paper as an independent candidate,” they added.
