In a joint statement, the leaders said that the way Brar had publicly opposed the unanimous decision of the party to boycott Khadoor Sahab bye-election had only harmed the party’s image. They regretted that despite being re-inducting into the party, Jagmeet Brar has onece again breached the discipline of the party by going public with his statements. They further said that his statements warranted strict action against him and retreated that if he had any reservation, he should use the party forum to convey his feelings and not tweeted. They said that when this was the consensual stand of the party to boycott the by-poll, he had no reason to resort to malicious campaign against the PCC president.
The party leaders asked Brar as what was the purpose in contesting the election when the issue for which Ramanjit Singh Sikki had resigned continued to remain unresolved. “Won’t contesting the bye-election have defeated the very purpose for which Sikki had resigned,” they asked Brar and told him to introspect before going public. The Congress leaders have urged the party high command to take strict action against Brar lest it damage the party image. They said that Brar had earlier targetted the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi and now he is targeting Capt Amarinder Singh.
