Chandigarh : In a clear message that dissidents would not be tolerated, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today expelled Bhupinder Singh Bittu from primary membership of the party for six years.
Defying the party decision to boycott the Khadoor Sahib byelection, he is in the fray as an Independent.
Only three days ago, Congress national general secretary and in charge of Punjab affairs Shakeel Ahmad had tried to broker a truce between the PPCC chief and former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar. The latter had spoken against the Amarinder’s decision to boycott the byelection.
The expelled worker is reported to be close to former PPCC chief Partap Bajwa. He also enjoys the support of Rajya Sabha member Manohar Singh Gill.
