Bathinda : After meeting farmer suicide victims families, the Congress will now contact industrialists in Ludhiana next week.

All this is part of a strategy by the party to corner and target the SAD- BJP alliance during the run-up to the 2017 Assembly polls.

The entrepreneurs will be asked to air their grievances before senior party leaders. An exhaustive factual data will be compiled so the ruling alliance does not have any leg room but to admit to their shortcomings. The data will be made public for making an informed choice.

Confirming the move, CLP leader Charanjit Channi said, “Ludhiana MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu has already had several rounds of discussions with industry representatives across the board. There is a great resentment among the latter,” he added.

Ashu said, “A basic survey here reveals that a large number of units have shut down and several are on the verge of closure. No easy refund of their VAT returns, costly power and new taxes in name of entry tax have contributed to the flight of the industry.”

“The atmosphere for doing a decent business in the state has ended. Industrialists feel they are not heard at any forum and will participate in any meeting called by us to submit an agenda of their demands,” Ashu added.
