CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday rejected the Khadoor Sahab byelection result as “insignificant and inconsequential” saying it would make no difference to anyone except chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, who is trying to clutch at the straws as he knows his ship is sinking.
“This was an election of the Badals, by the Badals and for the Badals, and Badals alone bothered about it as no one else was interested,” he remarked, adding, “Instead, what people were concerned about was the reasons and issues that had necessitated the byelection, and which still remain unresolved.”
Amarinder said the real test of the Badals’ popularity would be in a year’s time from now and even the Badals knew the outcome. He said the outcome of the byelection was insignificant when the issues of sacrilege incidents and killing of innocent protesters had not been resolved.
