Pathankot : Congress men staged a dharna in front of Gurdaspur MP Vinod Khanna’s house here to protest his long absence from his constituency.

Earlier, Youth Congress workers put up “missing” posters of the MP. Meanwhile, Khanna downplayed the protest and claimed that there were just a handful of Congress members who had gathered in front of his residence. “They should know that I am not keeping well, which is why I have kept myself away from my constituency. I will be staying in the city for the next few days but owing to poor health, I won’t be able to venture outside my house,” Khanna said.

About a hundred Congress workers led by Congress Kisan Morcha district president Amit Mantu and former district president Kartik Wadhera kept sitting in front of Khanna’s residence for four hours. They demanded that he should come out and take a list of grievances prepared by them. On the other hand, the MP said only one person should could come inside his house so that things could be sorted out.

“If Khanna is not well, as he claims, he should resign and give some other leader a chance to serve people,” said Kartik Wadhera, who was instrumental in putting up the “Vinod Khanna missing” poster some months ago.

District BJP president Anil Rampal said Congress workers have the habit of unneccesarily tarnishing the image of BJP leaders.”
