LEHRAGAGA (SANGRUR): Youth Congress leader Rahulinder Singh Sidhu on Tuesday lambasted the Modi government at the Centre for its alleged discrimination with Punjab on various matters, including financial aid for certain developmental projects. He claimed that during the UPA government at the Centre, Punjab had benefited immensely in terms of getting financial assistance for developmental projects in the state.
Addressing a rally at Lehragaga, Sidhu, district chief of youth Congress, said the Badal government’s failure to get its rightful due from the Centre was clearly evident of the fact that all was not well between the ruling coalition partners in the state.
He alleged that the Badal government had failed on all fronts leading to great amount of resentment among all sections of society, especially farmers and common man.
He said people were fed-up with the Badal government, adding that the state was reeling under financial burden with state’s debt mounting all the time and had gone beyond ` 1.30 lakh crore. He said the Badal government had accomplished itself only to make false promises to the people of Punjab, whether it was about providing cheaper food grains to the poor of state pertaining to Atta-Dal scheme or enhanced social security pension.
Amrinder Singh Raja War ring, Indian National Youth Congress president and MLA of Gidderbaha, speaking at the rally, said due to wrong polices of the state government the state’s economy had gone to shambles. He said there had been virtually no development in the state under the present regime.
He said the SAD-BJP would also be trounced in the 2017 Punjab assembly elections as people of the state had made up their mind to vote out the Badal government.
