Chandigarh : Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief Charanjit Singh Channi on Saturday questioned the performance of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and cautioned the people in the state against the dreams he was trying to sell to the people here.
He pointed out that earlier, it was the Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal who had been resorting to such delusionary politics. Both of them now stand exposed.
“Today, Kejriwal is really bothered about the drug menace in Punjab, where he was when this problem was multiplying and taking lives of young generations under the politico-police nexus. Today, he is visiting the families of farmer’s suicides and drug addicts, what vision he carries to eradicate this, he should tell the people of Punjab. Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal used the same marketing strategy, now Kejriwal is using to befool the people of Punjab,” he said.
Starting with utter failure of the Kejriwal government on employment creation front, Channi said the Delhi Chief Minister was now talking of tackling the agrarian crisis within no time forgetting that the situation had been developing over the years and it needed a holistic approach. In this context, he asserted the hike in MSP had been the highest during the UPA government. The situation had worsened under the present Akali Dal-BJP regime, especially after the coming into power of the BJP led government at the Centre with Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister. Channi said Delhi was a city state in which the number of farmers was negligible and as such, he could make any announcement but the situation in Punjab was different which, at one, was the most advanced state in the country that had been destroyed by the corrupt SAD-BJP government.
