CHANDIGARH: Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken has dubbed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal a “dream merchant with hollow pre-poll promises”.
On Sunday, showing the media a slideshow about the performance of the Kejriwal government in Delhi, Maken claimed that its expensive publicity campaign was a copy-paste of the Congress proposals of the Commonwealth Games times, and in one advertorial, Arvinder Singh Lovely of the last Sheila Dikshit cabinet in Delhi was still mentioned as state transport minister. “The AAP government in Delhi is listing the increase in the liquor sales and the publishing of diaries and calendars as its achievements,” he said, adding: “The people of Punjab should not be deceived by Kejriwal’s claims, and look at how Delhi’s regretting.”
“The Kejriwal gover nment earmarked ` 526 crore for publicity when it had no money to pay wages to the employees,” said Maken. AICC secretary in-charge of Delhi Kuljit Singh Nagra, Delhi Congress chief spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee, and its officebearers Chattar Singh and Bhram Yadav were present.
Maken said that in the upcoming byelections to 13 municipal wards, Delhi would “make up for its mistake”. “The AAP, which talked about eradicating corruption, was quick to suspend its two Punjab MPs who had raised the issue of internal democracy, while its three ministers accused of corruption continue to remain in the party,” he added.
