Chandigarh : To corner the SAD-BJP government on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal issue, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today announced that he would embark on a march along the SYL route, beginning from the tail-end Gunjal village in Abohar Assembly segment.

"The NDA government at the Centre — of which the BJP and Akali Dal are a part with Parkash Singh Badal's daughter-in law Harsimrat Kaur Badal being a Cabinet minister — has taken a stand in the Supreme Court that is clearly against the interest of Punjab. Badal and the BJP here in Punjab claim that they would not let a drop of water out," Captain Amarinder Singh, exposing their doublespeak.

The PPCC president advised the Chief Minister and his BJP partners to go to Delhi, meet the Prime Minister and tell him that Punjab cannot spare even a drop of water for others.

"They are part of the government at the Centre. They must use their influence and not put up a fake show in Punjab," he said. He warned that not only would the whole of Malwa turn dry, it might also lead to serious law and order situation in the state.
