Patiala : PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh today asked Punjabis to be prepared for a struggle and be ready to go to jail to save Punjab’s river waters.

The Akalis have connived with its ally partner BJP to harm Punjab’s interests. Now even Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, who is from Haryana, will harm our interests. 

Amarinder also termed the recent violence in Haryana as anti-Punjabi. He was addressing a public meeting at Ghanaur today. 

“I will soon be announcing the date for taking out a march to save waters and I will need your support”, he said amid applause. 

Conspicuous by their absence were Patiala (Rural) MLA Brahm Mohindra and Sanaur MLA Lal Singh, who had earlier claimed that they were not invited for the function. 

Meanwhile, Sukhjit Randhawa in his speech targeted leaders inside the Congress who were working against party interests. Congress workers should teach such leaders a lesson. Those given tickets should not lobby for their relatives as chairmen of boards or corporations and only workers should get their due, he added. 

Earlier backing the candidature of four sitting MLAs’ Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Hardyal Kambhoj, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Balbir Sidhu and that of ticket aspirant from Ghanaur, Amarinder said that he wants all of them to get tickets. If it was for me to decide I would decide their tickets today, but this decision will be taken by AICC chief Sonia Gandhi. 

Taking on Kejriwal over his claims of knowing Punjab and serving its interests better than others, Amarinder invited him to chose any of the 117 constituencies in the state and he (Capt Amarinder) would contest against him. 

“Kejriwal is yet to make his stand clear on the SYL issue and I am again asking him to spell out his stand or his silence will mean that being a Haryanvi his heart beats for Haryana only”, he said. 

The Delhi CM has not even condemned the recent anti-Punjabi violence in Haryana. 

Taking on the Akalis, he said, “As if your cheating, looting and turning our youth into drug addicts during the past nine years was not enough, now you have backstabbed them by virtually surrendering before the Centre and supported Haryana on the SYL issue. And for what, just to secure and safeguard the ministerial berth for Harsimrat Badal?” 

Amarinder asked why Badal had not protested against the Centre’s stand in the Supreme Court against Punjab.
