Chandigarh : Congress legislators have accused the SAD-BJP government of hijacking their demand for the return of farmers’ land that was acquired for the construction of the SYL canal.

Leader of Opposition, said that yesterday, they had brought an amendment on “de-notifying the land acquired for SYL” before the Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha. “But instead of admitting our amendment, the ruling SAD-BJP government — just to take political credit — brought a resolution on the same subject. The ruling alliance, after suspending the Congress MLAs, then passed the same resolution in the House,” he said.
