PAT I ALA: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) vice- president and Patiala (rural) MLA Brahm Mohindra on Thursday demanded the resignation of Kaptan Singh Solanki as Punjab governor for failing to protect the interests of the state.
He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of playing politics with Punjab by not providing a full-fledged governor to the state.
In a press release, the fivetime MLA said while addressing the Punjab assembly less than a week ago Solanki said that Punjab had no extra water, now he took a U-turn and is demanding water share from Punjab as the Haryana governor.
“By working as the governor of Punjab and Haryana, Solanki has lowered the decorum of his office as his addresses in the assemblies of Punjab and Haryana were contradictory,” said Mohindra.
The MLA said the governor is not doing justice with his job as he is in a dilemma holding the dual charge of two neghbouring states which are trying to protect their interests on the water issue. “The PM has deliberately not appointed a separate governor for Punjab, as he wants to protect the interests of Haryana through Solanki,” Mohindra said, demanding an immediate removal of Solanki and appointment of a new governor.
To restore the decorum of the governor’s office, Solanki should himself resign as Punjab governor, he said.
