Chandigarh : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president and Patiala MLA Brahm Mohindra has demanded the resignation of Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki for “failing to protect the interests of Punjab.”
n a press statement issued here, the five-time MLA said it was ironic that less than a week after delivering an address in the Punjab Assembly, wherein the Governor had stated that Punjab had no extra water, he had taken a U-turn and demanded water share from the state.
He said the Governor was in a dilemma as he held the dual charge of Punjab and Haryana, which were working to protect their respective interests on the waters issue.
He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi for playing politics with Punjab by not providing a separate Governor to the state.
“The PM wants to protect Haryana’s interests through Solanki,” he said, demanding the immediate removal of Solanki and the appointment of a new Governor.
SAD, Congress befooling public: Bhagwant Mann
CHANDIGARH : Terming the stand of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Congress on the SYL issue as mere political drama, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Bhagwant Mann today claimed that in the garb of filling the canal, the land, mining and wood mafia backed by the ruling SAD had run riot in the area.
“Involved in a credit war, both the Congress and the SAD are befooling the public as the original owners of the land, which is claimed to be de-notified by the Assembly, are still confused whether they will get their land back or it will be grabbed by the land mafia,” Mann said.
“People of Punjab are smart enough to understand the ‘drama’ of these politicians and give them a befitting reply during the polls,” the AAP MP said.
