CHANDIGARH: Raising slogans against the treasury benches and speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, Cong ress MLAs on Monday walked out of the House during the zero hour.
Opposition MLAs came into the well of the House after the speaker failed to stop education minister Daljit Singh Cheema from reading out excerpts from a booklet. “On a number of occasions, the speaker has stopped the MLAs from reading out from paper, book or a newspaper asking the MLAs they could quote certain published item but can’t read. Today, he is allowing the minister to read from the booklet,” said Congress MLA Sukhjinder Singh Randhwa who was first to come into the well followed by other legislators. MLA Tarlochan Singh Soond led the party’s sloganeering.

Later, Congress MLAs walked out and speaker announced start of call attention motion. Former CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal read out the motion asking government to conduct girdawari to assess losses to the wheat crop due to inclement weather.
