151.94 cr of MNREGA workers stuck in the Budget: Jakhar

Chandigarh: Lashing out at the state government for drawing a rosy picture of the state finances, former leader of Opposition and Senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar asked the chief minister to explain what kind of development they are talking about when, around 11,66,0565 job card holder families of MNREGA have been fighting to get their dues of Rs 151.94 crore for the last so many months.
“These job card holders have been protesting to get their dues for the last so many months but it seems that the state government has become deaf and dumb for these poor daily wagers” Sunil Jakhar said. While issuing press statement, former leader of Opposition Sunil Jakhar informed that in the Jalalabad constituency of Deputy Chief Minister, MNREGA workers have been fighting for their dues of Rs 3.82 crore. He also claimed that due to apathetic attitude of the state government, which is only trying to do statistical makeover of financial condition of Punjab, could not initiate any developmental work this year under MNREGA, due to which 5234 village panchayats of the state were affected.
Sunil Jakhar also mentioned that even as the government reports confirmed that the Central government had granted the amount of Rs 245 crore, in which state government had to contribute its share of Rs 28 crore. He also expressed concern about the 11.60 lakh job card holders that the sgovernment could not provide them employment for 11 days
