Chandigarh : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh today termed the dismissal of the Congress government in Uttarakhand and imposition of President’s Rule there as an “unconstitutional and undemocratic” act.

Capt Amarinder also asked Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to clarify his stand on the issue since the dismissal of the Uttarakhand Government undermines the basic principle of federalism, which he has “always been beating his breast about.”

“It is paradoxical that Badal’s daughter-in-law Harsimrat Kaur Badal was party to the Cabinet decision that recommended the unconstitutional dismissal of the Uttarakhand Government, while Badal himself has always been crying hoarse about the attempts to undermine the federal structure of the Constitution,” the former Chief Minister pointed out.

“This is another example of Badal’s characteristic double standards that he preaches something and practices something else like running with the hare and hunting with the hounds,” he said.
