AMRITSAR: After her resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and then a comeback after two days — all on Facebook — chief parliamentary secretary and Amritsar-East MLA Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu finally returned to her constituency on Monday, with her ballistic tone intact.

Railing against BJP’s ruling partner Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Dr Sidhu now says that if she’s “troubled again” by the state government “and especially the SAD”, her husband, former MP Navjot Singh Sidhu “will be here to fight for me”. She reiterated that she won’t contest if the SAD-BJP alliance continued for the assembly polls, but denied that her husband and she were going to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP): “I have never said I am going to AAP”
She claimed that her resignation from the BJP was “no prank but a real one”, adding that it was “stopped” by BJP organisational secretary Ram Lal and husband Sidhu. “I was upset because tenders were not floated [for development work in my constituency] and I was kept waiting for 20 days. This is being deliberately done to me by the Akali Dal. I am just concerned with the works of my constituency; but, if such hurdles are created, how could I keep quiet?”
She said she had talked to the BJP high command: “They have assured me that things will get better. Moreover, my husband will be here to support me if something wrong is done to me a next time.” On how she was back now, she reiterated her ‘comeback’ Facebook post, “Because tenders of ` 49 crore were floated finally.”
Asked why she had put up her resignation on FB but had not sent it to Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma, she said, “I put it on FB because I have people there with whom I am connected. I was going to the BJP chief to submit the resignation but my husband called me to Delhi.”
However, she added that in the past too she had taken up issues with the state unit “but nothing has been done, so one has to take the matter to Delhi”.
