CHANDIGARH: Terming Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s meeting with Union home minister Rajnath Singh on the issue of the demolition of a ‘piao’ outside Gurdwara Sis Ganj in Delhi as a “political drama”, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday said the SAD president should have demanded stern action against the “BJP-controlled municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD)”, actually responsible for the act.

“The SAD and BJP should tender an apology to Sikhs for misleading people on the issue,” AAP Punjab incharge Sanjay Singh said. Reacting to the proposed dharnas by the SAD in all Punjab districts against the demolition, Sanjay dared Sukhbir to launch an agitation against the BJP-controlled MCD.

“People of Punjab are intelligent enough to understand Akalis, who have already lost their political ground in Punjab, and the people will give the alliance a befitting reply in the assembly polls,” he added.

“The SAD-BJP is trying to flare up communal tension by misleading people on a religious matter in which the AAP has no role,” Sanjay said. Last week, the ‘piao’ (drinking water booth) outside Gurdwara Sis Ganj was demolished.
