Gurdaspur : Nominating Navjot Singh Sidhu to the Rajya Sabha was a compulsion for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to retain him in the party. This was stated by former PPCC president and Rajya Sabha member Partap Singh Bajwa in Gurdaspur on Saturday.

Bajwa visited the Market Committee office of the Gurdaspur grain market to take a stock of the wheat procurement.

The former Gurdaspur MP said he would welcome Sidhu in the Upper House as the latter was a good leader but he said Sidhu’s nomination was nothing to cheer about for the BJP rather it was their compulsion. Bajwa said that the saffron party was afraid that Sidhu might quit the party.

Meanwhile finding the secretary of the Market Committee not in the office, Bajwa said if the Committee employees would remain absent, how they will ensure the smooth procurement of wheat. He said a strict action should be initiated against such officials who disobey the government orders.
