Ludhiana: Lashing out at Bhartiya Janata Party Leader and newly nominated Rajya Sabha member Subramanium Swamy for calling Jarnail Singh Bindranwala a preacher, who promoted Sikhism and motivated youth to stay away from drugs, Member of Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu said that those from outside the state should desist from misguiding the innocent people of Punjab.

Terming Swami as an agent of ISI bent upon creating mischief, Ravneet said it would have been better if Swamy would have motivated the students to touch the new heights in their careers. He could have touched the issue of farm crises plaguing Punjab, industrial exodus from the state.

Ravneet said, “One thing is certain the Operation Blue Star did cause immense harm to the Sikh psyche”. The scars of the operation are still fresh in our collective psyche, but at the same time we should understand that though Bhindranwala was a preacher but he was not wise. He went against the law of the land. He had collected and stored latest weapons within the premises of holy Golden Temple and his refusal to talk to the authorities till the last moment ultimately led to the immense damage to the revered Sikh shrine.
