Jalandhar :Former CLP leader Sunil Jakhar on Monday said that a delegation of Congress leaders would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a ‘physical verification’ of food grains scam in Punjab and demanded a probe by a sitting judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Jakhar while referring to the Rs 12,000 crore food grain scam posed five questions to the SAD-BJP government and questioning that when would the ‘Cash Credit Limit’ (CCL) issue be resolved? He also said that the property of those found guilty in food grain scam probe should be attached.

“Before raising a finger at me, the SAD-BJP should explain that why the CCL was stopped by the Centre? Is it due to embezzlement of funds, transportation charges and fake receipts or the 3 per cent infrastructure development cess?” he questioned. Addressing the media, Jakhar asked that what was the validity of ‘clean chit’ to SAD-BJP government, as this has happened during the previous paddy procurement season in October too. “In October 2015, during paddy procurement, the CCL was withheld for two weeks and the Punjab government has claimed a ‘clean chit’ then too. However, the same problem has cropped up now with the RBI and CAG raising finger at the Punjab government during the wheat procurement season,” he added. The senior Congress leader said that the SAD-BJP should ensure that similar CCL issue would not crop up again. Targeting the SAD government, Jakhar said that this was happening only in Punjab while the neighbouring Haryana never faced a problem of CCL.

Lastly, Jakhar said that the Punjab government must also make it clear that if Modi government was against Punjab and its farmers.
